Zero to 140 quarry approvals in one year

« News

Redleaf Environmental has delivered or is in the final stages of delivering 140+ quarry approvals in 2013 for Murweh, Paroo and Quilpie Shires as part of the Flood Restoration Works under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA). These on-going programs total funding is around $85M. Recently, all three shires received praise from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and the Department  of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) for their best practice model in assessing and permitting roadbase quarries across southwest Queensland. With the help of the experienced team from RedLeaf, these western councils are recognised as State leaders for their licensing programs, which for the first time, offers a systematic and cost-effective means of addressing the permit requirements for multiple quarry sites. This innovative model is being promoted as best practice by DAFF to other local governments across the state. RedLeaf would like to thank all of those involved in Paroo, Quilpie and Murweh Shires for their dedication in seeing sustainable outcomes in south west Queensland.

In addition to the quarry approvals, our team of ecologists and auditors are enjoying the challenge of delivering environmental services with our partners the Highland Infrastructure Group (HIG) to provide overall environmental management of the Murweh Shire Flood Restoration Program.
